Mongol Victory Over Fezia!
Emboldened by his previous victory over the Mongols General Hisaan pressed on, further into Mongol territory, to reinforce his plate cavalry who had freed Princess Jasmine. However three fresh and full units of Mongol cavalry arrived under General Jubla Khan. One of these had heavy armor and the other two units were lights.
SETUP
We rolled for the position of the Fezian plate and they ended up being close to the board edge, furthest from the rest of the Fezian army. They were in a bend of a river. To give them a chance we also rolled to see if the Mongols would arrive on the other side of the river and they did.
The other Fezians consisted of one light infantry, two mounted light infantry and the wagons. A mounted hero in heavy armor was also present. There forces were not at full strength, thanks to casualties from the last battle.
TACTICS
The Mongol heavy cavalry stood off and shot arrows at the plate cavalry. This was a bit risky as there was a small chance that Princes Jasmine would be hit. Fortunately for her she was behind her armor clad saviors. The other two light archer units rode in front of the oncoming Fezian archers and exchanged shots. At first the latter had the best of it and wiped out a unit of the enemy. Later this fortune reversed. A few plate armored cavalry also fell from their saddles.
Then the plate began to cross the river (only part of the river was crossable and we used Funny Little Wars river terrain cards to determine this). They then charged the heavy Mongols causing casualties but as the melee continued Mongol numbers triumphed. Princess Jasmine was recaptured and carried across his saddle by Jubla Khan. She kicked her feet and tried to claw him but he just laughed.
The Fezian archers retreated, pursued by the Mongols, firing as they followed. They were all killed, including General Hisaan. The hero survived and ordered the infantry (which had been guarding the wagons) to retreat.

Jubla Khan sent his surgeon to the fallen Hisaan. For a Mongol Jubla was not particularly cruel, although he probably intended to ransom him. The retreating Fezians had few supplies left but as the Mongols had ceased their pursuit they resolved to try to hold onto the territory they had previously seized, a risky endeavour. At least there was good hunting and fruit trees there for a small force to subsist. However, they hoped to avoid the Sultan's wrath by claiming some success from their expedition.
SURVIVORS
Fezians
General lost a life and is now captive of the Silver Horde
Hero who assumes command
One unit of 17 light infantry
4 wagons
Mongols
General
13 mounted light archers
11 heavy Mounted archers.
TO COME
Next battle will be in a fortnight and on Stellar Island. The Stellans are seriously outnumbered by the Fezians. Most likely they will be fighting for their honor rather than a victory. That battle will most likely be the final battle of the campaign.
