Repairing an Old Metal Viking & Plastic Indian
It is a bit iffy repairing old brittle plastic figures, like this Cherilea one, but I didn't have any blanket wielders so I did it and risked more breakage. I did not try to replicate the exact look of the blanket which is here made from Super Glue tube. The hands were made from wire and Green Stuff, although I see I should have mixed it more thoroughly. I also added a couple of feathers to the head.
I really like this old hollow-cast metal Viking. He was without legs and end of weapon. The new legs are made from wire and putty. The double headed axe is a Timpo one. I don't know if they actually used this style of axe but it looks cool. He also has lost his helmet horns. A while back I made a resin casting of the torso and repaired it with new legs. Now, once upon a time I would carefully trim off horns from Viking helmets as we have long known that they were not a historical reality, except maybe for ceremonial stuff. HOWEVER, can we say they NEVER wore them in battle, EVER? Hmm and other barbarians DID have horned or winged helmets. Furthermore Hollywood Vikings did and they look cool. And my Vikings are used as generic elite fantasy barbarians. No/Yeah, I'm gonna add them as the original figure had them!
I'll be repainting these figures so stay tuned.
