Unknown Island and what did Tyrannosaurus look like?

What a cool 1948 film! I especially liked the men in dino suits! Actual tyrannosauruses were not so upright and could also attain a decent speed.

This film was obviously a ripoff of King King with the usual rivalry between male characters and the female piece of crumpet for them to slaver over.

My favourite scene was where the expedition made a stand behind a fallen tree and blasted away at four slumbering rexes. The bullets were not that effective so gas bombs were employed. Sound familiar?

A big ape appeared and had to duke it out with a dinosaur. Of course the ape won and the rex fell off the cliff. There might have been a sloth in there somewhere at least the poster says so but I don't recall it unless it is the ape looking thing.

FUN FACTS

For most of the dinosaur ages there were no grasses of flowers but plenty of ferns. My dinosaurs appear in fantasy scenarios so I don't lose too much sleep over such details. Of course, no humans ever met a living dinosaur (unless you include birds that are descended from them). There have been some fun fraudulent and fake 'ancient' carvings showing dinosaurs but the concept is so enjoyable that fictional stories abound of humans versus dinos. And they are great in wargames.

Also, allosauruses never met tyrannosauruses as they were of different eras. They have the same general shape but the latter were a third bigger and more robust. I use figures of both, in the same games.
