Ruritanian Invasion of Zoohoo Mark 2
The Ruritanian navy has transported an army to invade Zoohoo whilst some forces also crossed the border from Ruritanian colonial territory.
BELOW:
The gunboat, Unconquerable prepares to give fire support to Ruritnanian troops recently disembarked.
Ruritanian First Lancers dismounted. The lancers have the Peabody carbine, an accurate weapon, but occasionally prone to misfires. It outrages the Zoohoo muskets. These troopers have left their sabres and helmets with the horses. They have, however, the special issue coconut hole driller which would save many a thirsty soldier when faced with an empty canteen. These soldiers have also swapped their issue canteens for larger private purchase ones..
Ruritanian infantry pushed back on their right flank and in peril from advancing Zoohoo hordes. However, two Zoohoo units are close to wiped out.
On the left flank the Ruritanians maintain a strong position, reinforced by the gunboat.
Ruritanian cannons limber up and withdraw.
Zoohoos crossing the Limpupu River were subject to horrendous casualties from combined infantry and gunboat shooting.
Ruritanian Royal Marines fired into the enemy. A Redian officer is with them as an observer as is a reporter from the Amerigan Lincoln Star.

SETUP & EVENTS
This time I played Ruritania. I one the dice off to make Mat set up first but he won first move. His forces pushed heavily on my right flank but were repelled on my left flank. The gunboat supplied cover support from the bay.
Victory conditions were table quarters, As in the previous game the Zoohoo firearms had half the range of the Ruritanians. Most Zoohoo units had only close combat weapons.
Zoohoo casualties were about twice those of the Ruritanians but both sides were seriously depleted. When Zoohoos on my left flank were killed or fled one of my infantry units moved up to dispute the enemy's hold of that quarter.
On my right flank I was compelled to use my cavalry even though they were seriously outnumbered. In the end a number of units were overwhelmed but the two guns were able to withdraw and to halt the enemy advance once they unlimbered and fired again.
Towards the end of the battle the two gunboat guns misfired and blew up, fortunately without further damage to the boat.
The final outcome was a draw, an improvement for Ruritania on the last battle when Mat played them.
We are going to play the scenario again but with an additional cavalry and a machinegun for the Ruritanians.
