When to Use and Not Use Super Glue With Baking Soda.

I have found the use of Super Glue with baking soda as a way to make strong bonds for repairs and conversions. It can even be used as filler. I used to use two part Araldite which was a very sticky messy substance to use and did not set immediately. Super Glue dries relatively fast and faster with baking soda.
Most of the conversions and repairs I do are with plastic figures.

But today I had a random thought about metal figures. I never really learnt how to weld figures with solder. Instead I used glues including, in more recent times, the Super Glue and baking soda. But wait, isn't baking soda a salt and isn't lead rot conceivably caused by salt? (Moisture is another factor).Just tonight I repaired a couple of old WW1 leads with just that technique, including filling a big hole in a lead figure. I looked it up on the Internet and, sure enough, it said that baking soda mixed with Suer Glue could cause the very conditions for lead rot especially used in the way I did and when totally sealed! I think there is still a small hole in the head so maybe it is not completely sealed. Well, it is too late now and I would cause too much destruction to try to undo it all. I don't now if eventually lead rot will occur in those figures. It is not an issue I have really had with my old leads so I'll write a note on the base of those ones I remember repairing that way to see if they get the dreaded lead rot.
