April Projects - Beerstein Militia, More Achers, Beerstein Flag Bearer and ACW Artillerymen..

The Beerstein militia are made from Biblical infantry.  These figures used to be sold in Christian book shops some decades ago.  Clearly they are meant to be ancient and look Sumerian but they are going to be used in medieval Beerstein. I painted over the exposed ear to make the helmet more inclusive. In the end they look rather smart - too smart to be militia , even with their dorky pose. They look a little like late Roman empire or Byzantine. I still have to paint the eyes and I might decide to paint faces on the shields.

I also recently obtained some more Airfix archers and they will be filling out existing units.

 

                                         
               Beerstein flag bearer with aluminum flag from - beer can! A paper flag will be added. The aluminium was Super glued on and the join covered with green Stuff to have a smooth finish for the paper to stick to. The paper was stuck on with PVA.

                                       
 These Confederates are half finished, I acquired the figures at Easter and did some speed painting on them.
