The Battle Of The Two Forests Part 2.
After sending a war elephant off the board the dying pigs ran into a melee before dropping dead. The field smelt of bacon.
On the Romans left flank the Carthaginians' own elephant charged into them as they meleed the Romns. They had to kill it. However the Romans had been slaughtered on this flank/
We are serious wargamers; we used dice to determine casualties from the Roman's catapult. it as a lot of fun to actually shoot the dice. The casualties were determined from where it hit with a one inch radius killing up to five figures as the formations are shoulder to shoulder.
Conclusion:
The Carthaginians kept the Romans on the back step but the Romans recovered on their left front while. the Romans right flank collapsed. The butcher's bill indicated a bloody stalemate as both sides had lost seven units.
Next week we will replay with a change of command as I will be the carthaginians and mat the Romans. Previously we had been averaging a game a month but it looks like three games a month this time.
