French WW1 Colonial Or Belgian Or WW2 French Or Syldavians
I have just about completed these paint jobs so they can be used in a 1920s -1930s game of Syldavia versus Borduria,
There really is not a lot of difference between late war WW1 Belgian and French uniforms for WW1 except for some red colour flashes on the Belgian collars. The blue puttees were a variation although they were also khaki. Although the French uniforms went from dark blue and red to Horizon blue colonial troops wore khaki. These latter could be Europeans living in Africa (notably Algeria) or coloured troops.
The French Adrian helmet was also worn by other countries' troops including Russia.
French troops in WW2 were still wearing the adrian helmet and great coat as well as tunics.
The interwar period is one which I am going to game using Paul Wright's new rules.
