The Flight of the Bat
Esmeraya, with her three grave Guard warriors had fled a large Beersteiner force but encountered yet another, smaller enemy force. She was still outnumbered so moved cautiously. she moved her small force to the beginning of the village. (The inhabitants had fled). The catapult with skeleton crew unlimbered their machine and pointed it towards the enemy force.

The Beersteiner infantry had arrived on the battlefield after hearing cannon fire in the distance.
A thick fog reduced their movement to half. (The Undead were unhampered by the fog)
The Necrolians were out of range of the muskets, but long range was presented to the artillery just as the fog lifted (in move 6). The three or four cannon shots all missed their targets. However, the Necrolians managed to succeed with one shot of their catapult, causing two casualties among one infantry regiment. it also suffered a misfire when a rope broke.
Esmeraya had little success with her magic but finally managed to generate 9 zombies in the village. One regiment of infantry shot down the three zombies still to be seen on one side of the buildings. As the zombies moved through between the houses, the other infantry also fired at them, wiping them out after two volleys.
The Beersteiner irregular cavalry moved around the village and prepared to capture the Necrolian wagons and catapult. However, Esmeraya boarded her coach and the grave Guard entered the second coach. The two coaches then rode off, North, and into Necrolian territory.
CONCLUSION
Both sides acted with hesitation and thus there were few casualties. The game went for 12 moves and one hour. The thing with a campaign game, with hidden movement, is there is great variety of encounters or battles. They can be massive battles or small skirmishes and can involve more maneuvering than casualties.
POWs
It is assumed that captured Undead are normally destroyed, stakes and bonfires being the usual path.
Chaos mercenaries, unusual allies for Beerstein.
This infantry regiment has a flag remarkably like that of the Tower regiment. However, it represents the Hound castle it has been garrisoning.
A sole zombie survived a short time before he too was gunned down.
Chaos mercenary cavalry converge on the Undead wagons.
Esmeraya, in a final defiant gesture, points her sword at the enemy.
Beersteiner cannon. This particular cannon was constructed by the garrison at The Hound's Castle. Years ago, captured but Bogavanian cannons and limbers had been reconstructed. A wheelwright was not available, so the wheels were made solid. An experimental design includes a wooden shield.
The Beersteiner infantry cautiously moved forward, but too late to damage any Necrolians other than the summoned small zombie unit.
The other infantry met the emerging zombies with deadly volleys.
Black Coach, Esmeraya rides pillion!
THE FUTURE
That was the end of campaign move 8. Mat and I will next make our secret map moves that will lead to our next battles, that will most likely include a major Aztecs versus Fezians and Bogavanians battle. So far Bogavanian forces have not entered the fray but a Bogavanian army has just entered Aztec territory.
