Chinese Matchlock Man

 One thing interesting about the Boxer rebellion is the variety of firearms used by the Chinese. This fellow has a matchlock. 

  I was considering converting the Chinese matchlock men from ECW figures and might still do that. Unlike ECW soldiers the powder charges are worn around the waist. I already made some of these from Green Stuff.

  A variety of headgear was worn that can be cut down from other hats or built up with putty.

 

Other Chinese soldiers had flintlocks, percussion muskets or breechloaders, not to mention bows.

Cavalry can be represented by Italeri Mongols. I already have a few units of these. The main difference is that the Chinese cavalry also had carbines, rifles or muskets.
