Repaired Airfix Halberd Man
I painted this fellow and some others in the 1980s. I remember I was renting a farmhouse at Saint Arnaud, central Victoria and sitting by my fireplace fire when I painted this. However, a few months ago this medieval Airfix figure broke. I didn't have a halberd handy so settled for making a spear from brass wire. I drilled and cut out where the handle had been and added the brass rod with flattened and sharpened end. The left hand did not survive the process so I rebuilt it from putty. The legs also broke at the ankles so I Super Glued with some baking soda and added green Stuff grass to further hold them in place.
I doubt how useful it is to repair brittle plastics as they often break again not long after, but he is part of a unit I'd like to preserve and I did do a reasonable paint job on him.
I'll trim the putty back a bit and paint the new parts.
By the way, I am improving my recent dismal photo efforts by putting my camera on auto as well as the flower symbol for closeups, Before I had the camera on closeups but the other setting was wrong.
