Chinese Boxer Army & Roped in Mongols

First up in my Chinese army is the irregular cavalry, mostly Italeri and some others, including conversions of American Indians. In reality these are my Mongol army. The appearance of a mounted medieval Mongol and a 19th century irregular Chinese cavalryman is not hugely different except in detail. The 19th century Chinese cavalry still used bows. However, they also had firearms. The Chinese troops probably did not have armor on their horses or much on themselves.

Generally, my Mongol cavalry have 14 per unit.

Home castings copies of hollow-cast Britains. I have a few more to paint but might end upmaking these regular Chinese from ACW figures.
Dragon Cannons. I still need to make the crews.

                                                                      Polearm troops

The flagman started life as a Hing Fat pirate.

If my memory serves me right the flag tiger design is actually Taiwanese, but it looked so good that I painted it on.

You might recall that the two big shooters, in the next two photos, were originally American Indians.

My plan is to convert some ACTA ECW figures into Chinese matchlock men. I might also include some Arab archers. I have a few more Armies in Plastic close combat Boxers to paint.

The Chinese army might eventually make an appearance in the next fantasy campaign but all firearms will be counted as matchlocks.
